Re: Code of Conduct sub-committee

I hadn't heard about any of this. I don't get out much anymore, and am only on the air sporadically. Can we talk off-list about it? I feel a bit in the dark here.

Several events over the past year have violated those guidelines and PhilMont needs to demonstrate that we support those guidelines and that we expect our members to abide by them. The code of conduct we develop should be in line with the ARRL and the IARU and, perhaps, more importantly, encourage our members to be their best on the air, complying with both the spirit and the letter of FCC Part 97l

A Code of Conduct?

Why is one suddenly necessary? The club has been around for an awfully long time and never needed one before. Has something changed that drastically?

January 2, 2021

Attention Club Leaders and Members:

The next What Hams Do YouTube TV Show will Premiere at 8 PM, Sunday, January
17th. It will focus on Mobile Emergency Communications. The program will
help us convince PA House of Representatives members to exempt mobile
amateur stations from restrictions in distracted driving legislation. Last
year's attempt (HB-37 introduced by Rep. Rosemarie Brown - Monroe/Pike
Counties) failed to get to the Senate floor. It had no ham radio exemption
in its original form. A new version will be introduced in 2021 and the PA
ARRL leadership team is taking a pro-active stance to make sure the
legislation protects our ability to operate in our vehicles, especially as
it pertains to Emergency Communications and disaster readiness.

In addition to that segment of the program, the ARRL EPA news section will
cover items of importance to all hams, and specifically to those of us in
the Eastern PA Section of the ARRL. If you have news items you'd like
covered in the news segment of What Hams Do. please forward them by email to
jaysilber@arrl.net <mailto:jaysilber@arrl.net> as soon as possible. The
script will be completed by January 8th. Shooting and editing will begin
shortly after.

• These radio loans are available on a first come, first served basis.

• If you are done with the radio before the loan term is over or when the loan term is over, please contact Rich, K2RSJ at 609-502-0460 or rrothjr66@gmail.com to arrange for the radio to be transferred to the next club member requesting the use of the radio.

I will administer/facilitate this program to get these radios into as many of the members hands as we can. Try before you buy. This is a great opportunity to experiment with Yaesu's System Fusion.

How about someone with a 3D printer? I don't know how durable it would be, but it might be a source. It would be drawn in a CAD program, then printed.

I can tell you with utmost certainty that you will not find that knob at an auto parts store.  I was in the auto parts business for over 50 years.

You have to locate an old timer who has a bins of knobs.  Don't look for a knob, look for that old timer.

Its going onto an encoder that has no limit, so prefer something thats plain
