Re: Lightship Weekend Saturday August 20th and Sunday August 21st 7am to 3pm

Hello Jim,
Count me in on the Lightship weekend. The Lighthouse is in my backyard.  I pass it often.
I'm good all day Saturday and Sunday morning.

DENN Preparation for 7/12

For the DENN on 7/12/2022 we are going to continue exploring Flmsg, Custom Forms. To prepare for this please download the American Red Cross zipped file of the Custom Forms that the Red Cross uses.

http://www.w1hkj.com/files/flmsg/ARC_custom_forms/ARC_custom_forms.zip

Unzip this and move the 10 .html files to your NBEMS.files/CUSTOM folder. Now when you select FORM, CUSTOM in your Flmsg you will see the additional forms. To prepare for the net select any of these forms and fill it out and save the Form with a name and location you remember. During the net all you have to do is select File, Open and double click this file. When you are ready to send it then select AutoSend.

Below are screen shots of my configuration to get you set up to automatically receive Flmsg.

Attached is a form the Bucks County ARES group used to help the board of health with a flu pandemic drill that they conducted in 2015 way before Covid. This is a form that they had in PDF form that they had to send from the point of distribution centers every hour. They asked the Bucks County ARES group if they could do this on their voice nets. I reached out on the Fldigi group and asked for ideas. Someone on the development team asked me for the PDF and created this custom form for us. It was so easy to send this form digitally rather than by voice. They were simulating an area wide outage without the Internet and cell phones just the Amateur Radio repeater system. Needless to say they were impressed.

Subject: WTD; HTX-202 Battery Holder for 6 AA Batteries

Dell (KC8HFH) has an old Radio Shack HTX-202 handheld radio - his first amateur radio - still in working condition.  He's looking for the original Radio Shack battery shell that holds 6 AA alkaline batteries.  I don't know the part number.  Dell can purchase a new battery for the radio, they are very similar / identical to the Icom battery packs for an IC-2a, 3, 4 and the IC-02, 04, etc.  But then he'd need the plug-in charger.  Does anyone out there have one of these..??

I have 2 of the Icom battery holders for Ni-Cad or Ni-Mh batteries -- they hold 10 AA rechargeable batteries, times 1.2 volt each equals 12v.  If you were to use alkaline batteries at 1.5 volt each the initial voltage would be too high for the radio.
