As discussed in yesterday's meeting we are gearing up for a big event for field day this year! We have a few roles filled for the event, and we have plenty more to go around. Namely, our band captains!

Band captains have a great level of responsibility, and those are outlined here! You will be responsible for operating one of the stations on your designated band, and your station will be set up for the duration of the event for yourself and others to utilize. THAT'S RIGHT! If you are not staying overnight, your radio is! We will make sure it is well taken care of, fed, and watered; but people may be operating with it. We are still looking officially for every band (160/80(75)/40/20/15/10/6/2/70cm/+) besides the GOTA station.

If you are interested in being a band captain (I know I had a few people come up to me last night, but I want everything in one place.) reply to this thread and let me know:

1. What equipment do you plan to bring? (Radio, Antenna, Coax, Power, Etc)

2. What bands CAN you operate on if asked?

3. What band(s) would you PREFER to operate (not everyone can get 20 and 40 meters)

4. What MODES you plan to operate (CW, SSB, DIGI)

We have a small committee set up to pick who will end up where, so let us know what you've got! If you need some equipment to make your station work for your designated bands we will have a limited amount of equipment to share.

FUN WISE we are planning on having a balloon-based antenna up at the usual tower site, and we would LOVE to get some satellite action. If you have a satellite setup let us know.

Food wise, we are still planning that aspect out. We will update everyone as we get plans together.

Onsite Communications will be via the W3QV repeater and a yet-undecided simplex frequency. WE WILL UPDATE THE WEBSITE AND THE THREAD ONCE WE HAVE A SIMPLEX ASSIGNED.

Location as always will be the Fort Washington state park, in the upper group camping area. If you are unable to find us in the park, call in on the simples or repeater, and we will guide you in or send a search party; your choice!
